Health and wellness trends are on the rise in 2019 and it’s easy to see why! I’ve researched what’s new in 2019 for you to be on the lookout for.
Health and Wellness Trends
Wellness retreats are becoming even more popular and more niche. A few years ago it wasn’t uncommon to book a yoga retreat. With 2019 comes niche wellness travel. From Nature Immersion Getaways to Sugar Detox Trips you can find a retreat to cater to your specific needs.
With the rise of Peloton (whom recently announced they’re expanding into yoga) and smart watches like this FitBit, you can workout from just about anywhere!
ClassPass reported a 16% rise in restorative and recovery classes in 2018, and there are now entire studios, like Stretch Lab that cater soly to instructor led stretching classes. With the rise of high intensity workouts, it’s only natural that people need and accept recovery as an integral part of wellness. Think:
- restorative yoga
- yin yoga
- float therapy
- infrared saunas
- sports massage
Prioritizing Shut Eye
When we skimp on sleep our cognitive functions suffer immensely, we also are much more likely to overreact to situations and become very irritable. It can also lead to weight gain, depression and other health concerns.
In its new report, Pinterest 100: The top trends for 2019, Pinterest highlighted “sleep optimization” as a growing search term, up by 116 percent. The trend is to optimize, prioritize and maximize sleep. Hopefully it’s a trend that’s here to stay! Ways that we can optimize sleep include better mattresses, pillows and bedding, sound therapy, dimming electronics at dusk until dawn, better pajamas, less intense schedules and an emphasis on smart products like this top-selling weighted blanket to improve sleep.
Eat Well, Live Well
Plant-based diets are one of the biggest food trends of 2019 and it’s hard not to notice! Dairy and meat-free alternatives are appearing on shelves and in restaurants everywhere nowadays. With that said, meal kits like the popular Purple Carrot are now catering to the plant based foodies and delivering delicious meals you can easily prepare straight to peoples doorsteps nationwide!
One Stop Wellness
Spas dedicated to wellness are popping up across the globe, and they’re a huge success! Why? People love the convenience of getting things like massage, yoga, acupuncture, facials and even fitness all under one roof!
Body + Mind
People are beginning to realize that wellness encompasses both body and mind. The body affects the mind and the mind affects the body. In 2019 you’ll likely see brands that emphasize things like meditation, yoga nidra, sleep apps, nutrition guidance, and even therapy app like Headspace to help address mental health issues like depression and anxiety.
This is an exciting time for wellness practioners and people who enjoy creating time to themselves to relax, recharge, rejuvenate. I personally am going to try as many of these strategies as I possibly can this year!
